On the limits of before-and-after photography

A quiet case against the social-media format and a longer case for standardized clinical photography you never publish.

Linden Aesthetic Studio 1-min read

Before-and-after photography sells well. It is also, in nearly every form we see it published, a flattering lie.

The lighting changes. The expression changes. The post-treatment swelling has settled or has not. We have stopped publishing them entirely. We do, however, photograph every patient under standardized conditions and we will show you yours, in the suite, on request.

The version you see online from anywhere should be read carefully. The angles tell you most of what you need to know.
